<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The Vienna Boys Choir, which has been singing at the court in Vienna since the 14th century, will perform at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts on Oct. 10.</p><p>The world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir includes 100 choristers from 30 different nations between the ages of 10 and 14, divided into four touring choirs.</p><p>Between them, the four choirs give around 300 concerts and performances each year in front of almost half a million people. Each group spends 9 to 11 weeks of the school year on tour. They visit virtually all European countries, and they are frequent guests in Asia, Australia and the Americas.</p><p>Tickets are on sale now and available through the Kirby Center box office, online at www.kirbycenter.org and charge by phone at (570) 826-1100. Tickets prices are $25.50 and $35.50, plus fees.</p><p>Musicians like Heinrich Isaac, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Johann Joseph Fux, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Antonio Caldara, Antonio Salieri, Christoph Willibald Gluck, and Anton Bruckner worked with the choir. Composers Jacobus Gallus, and Franz Schubert were, themselves, choristers. Brothers Joseph Haydn and Michael Haydn, members of the choir of St. Stephen&#8217;s Cathedral, frequently sang with the imperial boys&#8217; choir.</p><p>The choir&#8217;s repertoire includes everything from medieval to contemporary and experimental music. Motets and lieder for boys&#8217; choir form the core of the touring repertoire, as do the choir&#8217;s own arrangements of quintessentially Viennese music, waltzes and polkas by Lanner and Strauss.</p><p>For more information, visit the Vienna Boys Choir at www.viennaboyschoir.net.</p><style>
