First Posted: 9/9/2014 Baptist Bible College swept doubles play before taking five of six singles matches on Tuesday afternoon to notch an 8-1 victory over Keystone College in a non-conference match at the Murray Courts. The Defenders lifted their record to 3-1 on the season with their third-straight victory while the Giants fell to 1-1. The two teams will meet again in the Giants&#8217; regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 17th in La Plume in a Colonial States Athletic Conference matchup.
Kimberly Todisco picked up Giants&#8217; lone point by winning a in a tiebreaker at #3 singles.
Baptist Bible jumped out to a 3-0 lead by sweeping doubles&#8217; action. Bliss Lecea and Savannah Lopez defeated Rebecca White and Rebecca Ohnmacht at the top pairing, 8-6, while Ashlea Swingle and Kay Black topped Todisco and Megan Vesey at #2 doubles, 8-5. At #3 doubles, Chelsea Miller and Maggie Black defeated Kelly Corcoran and Vika Shpolyansky, 8-1.
In singles&#8217; play, Lecea got past White at the top flight, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) while Swingle downed Ohnmacht, 6-1, 6-3. Todisco got the Giants on the board with a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-5 decision over Lopez at #3 singles while Kay Black got past Vesey at #4 singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2. Miller defeated Corcoran, 6-3, 6-2, at #5 singles while Maggie Black bested Shpolyansky at the sixth flight, 6-1, 6-1.
