Holy Name Society hosts chicken barbecue

The Greater Wilkes-Barre Association for the Blind has begun planning its annual awards dinner and gala to be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Woodlands Resort.This year the event has the privilege of honoring three recipients: the Pugh family, Commonwealth Health, and Rodney Shemory.Tom and Chris Pugh, along with their children, will be honored with the distinguished Community Service Award, sponsored by Erwine Home, Health &amp; Hospice.Commonwealth Health will receive the Community Partnership Award, sponsored by InterMountain Medical Group. Rodney Shemory will be the recipient of the Arline Phillips Achievement Award, sponsored by Eye Care Specialists.There will also be a loving tribute to former board president/director and one of last year&#8217;s award recipients, Anna Cervenak. A new award will be presented in her memory, the Golden Anna Cervenak Impact Award.Both a live and silent auction will be held throughout the evening offering a trip to Grand Cayman, plus much more.
