Men about to make fools of themselves in streets of Downtown Pittston

First Posted: 12/6/2009 With a staff of several dozen dedicated volunteers on hand to serve as interpretive guides, the public is invited to visit the historic Nathan Denison House from 1 to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 6, to see how the holidays might have been celebrated in Wyoming Valley more than 200 years ago.
Leading the interpretive tour will be retired Lake-Lehman elementary teacher Robert Mischak and Sweet Valley resident Rodney Mahoney.
The colonial hospitality is an annual event which affords area residents a peek at daily life in Wyoming Valley in December 1790.
Participants will explain the life and times of Nathan Denison, including his military service as second in command at the Battle of Wyoming, his efforts as a local farmer and businessman and as an early Luzerne County judge.
Guests will also experience activities in the kitchen of the Denison home in 1790 as well as the family room, complete with live musicians and a holiday table.
Tickets must be purchased in the office behind the house. Admission for the approximately one hour tour is $4 for adults and $2 for children under the age of 13.
The Nathan Denison House is located at Denison Street and Wyoming Avenue in Forty Fort.
