On Saturday, Oct. 24, Penn State Wilkes-Barre will be holding the second annual Zombie 5K run/walk benefiting THON.The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, affectionately known as THON, is the largest student run philanthropy in the world. THON, a yearlong effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer, has raised more than $127 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children&#8217;s Hospital since 1977. THON 2016 will take place from Feb. 19 through 21, 2016 at Penn State&#8217;s Bryce Jordan Center.In anticipation of THON 2016, Penn State Wilkes-Barre students are inviting the local community to celebrate both the THON and Halloween spirit. The Zombie 5K will begin at 11 a.m. on the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus with registration beginning at 10 a.m.Participants will have the choice to dress as a zombie ($25 registration fee) or human ($30 registration fee), but all will be followed throughout the course by &#8220;The Running Dead.&#8221; The course is both runner and walker friendly and does not have a time restriction. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire duration of the Zombie 5K.
