The following are recent Luzerne County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. According to the agency: &#8220;any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Violations: A working container of cleaner was stored on the same shelf with straws in the front counter area. Person in charge moved straws during inspection. Facility food employee has completed the Serv-Safe course and is awaiting test results. PIC will email a copy of certificate to sanitarian. Door located in the shed storage area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals.Bakery Delite, 290 S. River St., Plains Township, Sept. 29. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Observed facility using rodent bait which is not placed in bait stations. Person in charge removed bait during inspection. A food employee was observed touching cookies, a ready-to-eat food, with bare hands. Person in charge discarded cookie during inspection. Observed ice scoop stored in a soiled container. PIC cleaned container and scoops during inspection. Observed wet wiping cloths in counter area, not being stored in sanitizer solution. PIC removed wiping cloths during inspection. Observed buckets of food ingredients stored directly on the floor in walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required. Observed a buildup of dust on fan guard in walk-in cooler. Observed a buildup of ice in both walk-in freezers. Observed several flying insects in drain area behind dish washer. Observed a buildup of moist residues on shelf by three-compartment sink in the bar area. Person in charge cleaned during inspection. Observed a buildup of static dust on fan guards in walk-in cooler. Observed numerous fruit flies in the bar area of the facility. Violation: Final rinse pressure gauge on high-temperature dishwasher is showing 12 psi rather than the required 15 psi-25 psi in final rinse cycle.Haystack&#8217;s, 116 Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, Oct 2. Observed a buildup of grease and dust on hoods above cooking area. PIC stated that hoods were scheduled to be cleaned Oct. 6. Violations: The Person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. Food facility has an original certificate posted, but the location is not conspicuous for public viewing. Observed in-use food ingredient containers in the kitchen and wait staff areas are not marked with the common name of the food. Person in charge labeled them during inspection. Observed a buildup of ice on boxes of food products in the walk-in freezer. Observed cardboard boxes of food stored directly on the floor in the walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off the floor as required. PIC moved boxes off floor. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Post can opener, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. PIC cleaned during inspection. Observed a buildup of grease and webbing on hood above cooking area. Observed old syrup residue on handles of beverage dispensing nozzles. PIC cleaned during inspection. Observed a buildup of old food residue on wire shelves in the salad refrigerator. PIC cleaned during inspection. Observed a buildup of old food residue in drawer storing utensils in the kitchen area. PIC removed utensils from soiled drawer and will wash and sanitize prior to use. Drawer cleaned. Lights are not shielded or shatter-proof over the prep area. Observed food residue and debris on floor in walk-in freezer.Rice Elementary School, 3700 Church Road, Mountain Top, Oct 2. Regular inspection; in compliance. Twenty-six cans of severely dented canned items observed in grocery area and intended for sale in the food facility. PIC removed cans from sales area to be discarded during inspection. Observed a buildup of frost on ice cream containers on the top shelves in the reach-in freezer unit in the sales area. PIC will remove affected products. Observed a buildup of frost/ice on top shelves and ceiling in the reach-in ice cream freezer unit on the sales floor. PIC will have unit serviced. Buildup of ice on floor and ceiling surfaces in walk-in freezers. Observed a buildup of static dust on fan guard in walk-in dairy cooler. Observed a buildup of black residue on interior surface of the mop sink in back area of the facility. Observed several flies in and around the mop sink in the back area of the facility.
