<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The district attorney&#8217;s office has ruled the shooting of a man by police earlier this month justified.</p><p>Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis issued a news release Friday announcing all officers involved in the shooting and apprehension of Scott Lee Sargent on Oct. 17 have been cleared of wrongdoing.</p><p>Sargent, 31, of Shenandoah, was arrested after allegedly firing at least 14 shots from an AR-15-style rifle, including several shots fired at police, in the parking lot of Walmart in Wilkes-Barre Township.</p><p>According to criminal complaint, police responded to Walmart just after 12:30 p.m. to reports of an active shooter in the area.</p><p>The first officer to arrive on scene, a Wilkes-Barre Township officer, approached Sargent and ordered him to drop his weapon, but his commands were met with gunfire, police say.</p><p>One of the shots struck the vehicle behind which the officer was taking cover, shattering the windshield, the release says.</p><p>As more officers arrived, police pursued Sargent behind the building, police say.</p><p>Sargent allegedly continued shooting at police until a city officer shot Sargent once, striking him in the abdomen and incapacitating him, according to police.</p><p>Salavantis identified the city officer as Patrolman Alan Gribble.</p><p>Sargent was found to have fired two rounds into the building&#8217;s service bay, one into a Wilkes-Barre Township Fire Command vehicle, two into civilian vehicles and three into a Wilkes-Barre Township police vehicle, the release says.</p><p>One of the shots allegedly penetrated the vehicle&#8217;s windshield and headrest.</p><p>No injuries besides Sargent&#8217;s were reported.</p><p>Plains Township police, state police, county detectives and the FBI assisted Wilkes-Barre Township and Wilkes-Barre City police.</p><p>Sargent faces six counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, six counts of assault of a law enforcement officer, three counts of aggravated assault, ten counts of reckless endangerment and one count of persons not to possess a firearm.</p><p>Sargent&#8217;s prior convictions include burglary and aggravated assault, the release says.</p><style>
