Police searching for suspects in Kirby Park stabbing, robbery

The public is invited to Luzerne County Community College from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday for a dedication ceremony and ribbon-cutting for its newly-renovated Technology Center at the College&#8217;s campus in Nanticoke.LCCC was part of a consortium of three community colleges in Pennsylvania to receive a $10 million U.S. Department of Labor grant to develop programs in high priority career fields. The funding is part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant program.In cooperation with the grant, the College began offering three new programs for the fall 2015 semester in Diesel Truck Technology, Engineering Design and Manufacturing, and Welding. The new programs are designed for individuals entering the workforce as well as those gaining and/or upgrading skills. The programs were designed in response to job needs in the region and each occupation is on the PA High Priority List for Luzerne/Schuylkill.The event will provide the opportunity for tours of the newly-renovated areas associated with the new programs as well as demonstrations of newly-acquired equipment.
