Attorney General’s office charges city man with forgery, fraud

<p>HARRISBURG &#8212; Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced the Office of Attorney General&#8217;s Child Predator Section recently arrested two men for distribution and possession of child pornography, bringing the total number of arrests for 2015 to 140 suspected predators.</p><p>One of those men is from Mountain Top.</p><p>Brian Hopersberger, 44, of North Mountain Boulevard, was arrested Thursday after an online investigation revealed images of apparent child pornography were made available on a file sharing network from an IP address linked to his residence.</p><p>According to a news release, agents from the Office of Attorney General&#8217;s Child Predator Section, the Luzerne County district attorney&#8217;s office and the Fairview Township Police Department executed a search warrant at Hopersberger&#8217;s residence in August. A computer seized during the search allegedly revealed multiple images of suspected child pornography.</p><p>A criminal complaint was filed Oct. 30 and a warrant was issued for Hopersberger&#8217;s arrest. Hopersberger surrendered Thursday to Magisterial District Judge Ronald Swank.</p><p>He is charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography, 106 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.</p><p>Hopersberger was released after bail was set at $10,000 unsecured. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18.</p><p>Hopersberger will be prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Rebecca Elo of the Office of Attorney General&#8217;s Child Predator Section.</p><style>
