Letter to the Editor: ‘Picnic in the Park’ supporters thanked for sustaining Nanticoke playground

<p>DALLAS TOWNSHIP &#8211; The Summer Performing Arts Training Academy (PATA) and Misericordia Players are collaborating to present two holiday plays and a medley of seasonal songs at Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall to usher in the season. Performances will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m.</p><p>The family-friendly performance features a live band, with the event opening with a holiday medley of songs arranged by Harrison Ingemarson and concluding with the song, &#8220;Good to Be Alive,&#8217;&#8217; by Andy Grammar.</p><p>In between, &#8220;The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,&#8217;&#8217; an adaptation to stage by Samuel French from the original story by Barbara Robinson, will be presented by 13 PATA performers, ranging in age from 6 to 17, and 10 Misericordia University students. The storyline is about a misfit group of siblings called the Herdmans, who discover the true meaning of Christmas throughout the play.</p><p>Misericordia students in the play include Adam Ercolani, Bear Creek; Jacob Schweiger, Barton, N.Y.; Chantal Whiteduck, Dickson City; Annette Ritzko, Coaldale; Nick Delmar, Shavertown; Abbey McCann, Swoyersville; Deborah Monforte, Staten Island, N.Y.; Kyle Pelkey, Watertown, Conn.; Dana Jolley, Dallas, and Sean Vitale, West Pittston. They are being assisted by fellow students on the production side, including Tia Spagnuolo, assistant director; Erin Roberts, line coach, Danielle Spagnuolo, back stage manager.</p><p>The original, Hanukkah-themed, coming of age play, &#8220;The Sixth Candle,&#8217;&#8217; was written by PATA acting coach, Lonnie Barone, who writes the musicals for the annual summer PATA program. &#8220;The Sixth Candle&#8221; is adapted from a short story Barone wrote for an annual Christmas card he sends to family and friends. The short play features PATA performers Jacob Thomas, Michaela Haas, Sydney Tellis and Annabelle Witkowski. Misericordia Players in the production include Ercolani, Schweiger, and Whiteduck.</p><p>For more information about the holiday production, please call 570-674-6207.
