In a world where what we eat is confusing, each of us must be diligent in researching the foods we eat.B.W. Richardson said, &#8220;Preserve and treat food as you would your body, remembering that in time food will be your body.&#8221; Then why have our primary food sources become tainted with chemicals, pesticides and herbicides, and why must consumers who are interested in maintaining or improving their health now search for organic foods?During the last few years, more and more consumers have been switching to organic foods. Simply put, most non-organic foods have been sprayed with multiple dangerous pesticides. Would you drink a glass of pesticides or weed killers? Then why is it allowed on our food supply? According to the Organic Consumers Association, a recent study &#8220;revealed clear links between one of the world&#8217;s biggest selling herbicide, glyphosate (commonly known as Roundup, marketed by Monsanto), to non-Hodgkin&#8217;s lymphoma, a form of cancer.&#8221;The majority of fresh produce found in grocery stores has been genetically modified to withstand the effects of herbicides (such as Roundup). Farmers spray their fields to kill weeds, but the remainder of the pesticides stay on the food.For those interested in eating healthier organic foods and eliminating chemicals, consumers need to demand higher quality standards.
