<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Pittston man pleaded guilty this week in Luzerne County Court to charges he fled from police and then repeatedly stabbed Pittston Police Chief Robert Powers with an ink pen as Powers attempted to arrest him.</p><p>Eric Volch, 30, of 190 Main St., Dupont, pleaded guilty before Luzerne County Judge Joseph Sklarosky Jr. to one misdemeanor count each of simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. A felony count of aggravated assault was withdrawn, court records show.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>Pittston police on April 16 responded to Martin L. Mattei Middle School, 190 New St., Pittston, to a call of a suspicious male being chased by school security officers. Powers and two officers located Volch running out of the woods and pursued him on foot.</p><p>Powers told Volch to stop but Volch refused and continued toward Powers, who attempted to place Volch under arrest. Volch then began to stab Powers in the stomach and hand area with an ink pen used to hold open his ear gauge, police said.</p><p>An officer used a Taser to subdue Volch, who was taken into custody.</p><p>Police said Volch, while at City Hall, rambled in an incoherent manner, allegedly asking officers how to get to Japan and telling them they weren&#8217;t real cops if they couldn&#8217;t answer. Volch then rambled about seeing his grandmother in a window and seeing things running on the floor, police said.</p><p>Court records show Volch pleaded guilty in 2013 to possession of drug paraphernalia and served 90 days probation.</p><p>Volch posted $40,000 bail on May 15, according to court documents.</p><p>He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 11.</p><style>
