Bills hire NFL’s first full-time female assistant coach

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; An appeal of Hugo Selenski&#8217;s sentence for a pair of 2002 murders could cost the county thousands of dollars.</p><p>Luzerne County Judge Fred A. Pierantoni III on Wednesday signed an order directing Luzerne County to pay Selenski&#8217;s court-appointed attorney, Edward J. Rymsza, $5,991 in expenses for representing the convicted double-murderer during an appeal of his sentence last year to the state Supreme Court.</p><p>Rymsza, whose law offices are in Williamsport, billed the county for work carried out between Dec. 1, 2015 and Jan. 6 of this year, according to the attached invoice. The bill included $5,676 in fees and $315 in expenses for a total of 51.6 hours worked.</p><p>The document indicates Rymsza is owed a balance of $5,501 from a previous invoice.</p><p>Selenski, 42, is serving two consecutive life sentences plus 56 to 120 years in prison for the May 2002 murders of Michael J. Kerkowski and Tammy Lynn Fassett. The bodies of Kerkowski and Fassett were unearthed from a shallow grave outside Selenski&#8217;s Mount Olivet Road residence in June 2003.</p><p>Selenski is serving out his sentence at State Correctional Institute Forest in Forest County.</p><style>
