The following are recent Luzerne County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. According the agency: &#8220;any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Violations: Food containers stored on floor in walk-in cooler. No thermometers visible in all in-use refrigeration units. Ceiling tile is out of tract above three-compartment sink. Rear kitchen door has a &#189;-inch gap along bottom sealing surface. No sign posted at food prep hand-wash sink to remind employees to wash hands. Ceiling tiles in food prep area are heavily stained. Left side glass door on two-door glass cooler is broken.Northwest Area Intermediate School, 21 Sunset Lake Rd., RR1, Hunlock Creek, Jan. 25. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Receiving door located near the walk-in cooler of the food facility has a gap approximately 1-by-&#189;-inch at the bottom of the door to door junction, with visible light and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals. The door located in the washing machine room of the food facility has a gap with visible light at the door/floor junction and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals.Polish American Vets, 2 S. Oak St., Plains Township, Jan. 25. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Ice scoop observed stored on top of ice machine, a surface not regularly cleaned. Scoop was moved during inspection. Scoops being stored in the ice bins at the bar with handle in contact with the ice. Scoops were removed during inspection. Observed a buildup of dust on fan guards in walk-in cooler. Observed a buildup of old syrup in soda gun holsters. Holsters cleaned.San Jose Deli, 347 W. Broad St., Hazleton, Jan. 25. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: No soap/single-use hand towels available at food prep hand-wash sink. Florescent light tube in four-door cooler is not shielded. Rear door is open and not screened.The Beer Store, 974 N. Vine St., Hazleton, Jan. 25. Regular inspection; in compliance.Bari Pizza &amp; Subs, 26 Laurel St., Pittston, Jan. 26. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Food employees observed in prep area not wearing proper hair restraints such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Food ingredient containers in the prep area were not labeled with the common name of food. Observed plastic cups with no handle being used as a scoop and stored in bulk food containers. Cups were removed. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in two refrigeration units. Blade on post can opener, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Can opener was cleaned. Wire shelves in refrigeration unit under bain marie observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Shelves were removed to be cleaned. Observed a buildup of dust on the fan guard in one refrigeration unit. Toilet rooms do not have a self-closing door.Drums Elementary School, 85 Old Turnpike Rd., Drums, Jan. 26. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Final rinse pressure gauge on high-temperature dish machine is inoperative. No temperature holding thermometer or temperature tapes are available to monitor final rinse plate surface temperature in high-temperature dish machine. Top surfaces of dish machine have buildup of corrosive material.15th Street Beer Barn, 802 W. 15th St., Hazleton, Jan. 26. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Dust buildup on beer walk-in cooler refrigeration unit fan guards. Toilet wax seal is leaking water at base of toilet. Rear entry door located in the retail area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals.Granteed&#8217;s Tavern, 247 Parsonage St., Pittston, Jan. 26. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Person in charge will register for ServSafe course and provide copy of certificate when received. Observed a buildup of dust and black mold-like residue on back wall surface of reach-in cooler. Surface cleaned during inspection. No paper towels or soap available at the hand-wash sink in the bar area. Soap and paper towels were provided. No sign or poster posted at the hand-wash sink in the bar area to remind food employees to wash hands. Violation: Observed a gap &#190;-inch by 3 inches with visible light at the bottom of door/door junction of the receiving door located in the kitchen and at bottom left floor/door junction of emergency door near laundry room, and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals. Prepackaged hoagies not labeled to clearly indicate any &#8220;Big 8&#8221; allergen ingredients and/or the allergen warning statement. Dispensing nozzles on both cappuccino machines observed to have food residue and were not clean to sight and touch. Nozzles cleaned. Observed a buildup of black mold-like residue on interior of ice chute on beverage machine. Chute cleaned. A temperature measuring device for measuring mechanical ware-washing wash and sanitizing water temperatures is not available. Raw chicken observed thawing at room temperature on the prep sink, which is not an approved thawing method. Chicken was placed in walk-in cooler. Regular inspection; out of compliance. Violations: Commercially processed, refrigerated, ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety food, located in the bain marie and in walk-in cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened. Person(s) in charge are not monitoring establishment operation for compliance with food code requirements. Fresh, tube beef is stored in same pan as ready-to-eat deli meat in walk-in cooler. Whole, fresh pork loin is stored with ready-to-eat food in metal pan in walk-in cooler. Food containers stored on floor in walk-in cooler and in kitchen. No thermometers visible in all in-use refrigeration units. Slicer has buildup of old dried food residuals on blade/blade guard. Slicer was not used today. Slicer to be disassembled, cleaned, sanitized prior to use. Cuber head and bin walls in ice machine have buildup of scum/mold on ice contact surfaces. Exterior man door leading into pantry by walk-in cooler has an approximately &#189;-inch gap along bottom sealing surfaces. Floor tiles in food prep area and bar area are cracked/broken/missing. Surface coating on tiles in food prep area is worn.<style>
