<p>Snow is expected in the Wyoming Valley to kick off the new week &#8212; temperatures, however, are also expected to climb dramatically within the next few days.</p><p>A winter weather advisory is in effect for Luzerne and Lackawanna counties from 5 p.m. today until 7 a.m. Tuesday.</p><p>According to the National Weather Service, light snow is expected to develop today over Northeastern Pennsylvania. Steady snow will gradually mix with rain and freezing rain later this evening, and a transition to rain is expected after midnight tonight as temperatures climb above freezing.</p><p>As temperatures continue to climb, rain is predicted for Tuesday, which could lead to some flooding.</p><p>A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.</p><p><strong>The forecast</strong></p><p>The National Weather Service indicated that it was 10 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with overcast skies reported.</p><p>Cloudy skies are expected today, and snow will become likely after 4 p.m. Around an inch of snow is expected, and today&#8217;s high will be near 28.</p><p>Snow is expected to continue before 10 p.m. tonight, followed by sleet between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. and rain into the overnight hours. Around 2 inches of snow and sleet accumulation are expected, and the low will be around 38.</p><p>Rain is expected on Tuesday, with up to an inch of rainfall accumulation possible. The high will climb to 50.</p><p>Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Tuesday night, along with a 40 percent chance of snow showers. Less than an inch of snow is expected, and the low will be near 28.</p><p>Partly sunny skies are predicted for Wednesday, along with a 30 percent chance of snow showers.
