BETHLEHEM &#8212; The Old Forge boys basketball team saw its season end Tuesday night as Math,Civics &amp; Science defeated the Blue Devils 69-56 in a PIAA Class A second-round game at Liberty High School.District 2 champ Old Forge finished its season at 15-10. D12 runner-up MCS improved to 13-14 and will play D1 champion Phil-Mont Christian (26-1) in the quarterfinals on Friday.Nick Pelosi scored all 13 points for Old Forge in the first quarter as the Blue Devils trailed 17-13. MCS, though, began to pull away and opened a 17-point lead late in the third quarter. Old Forge closed within 60-52 with 2:35 left in the game.Pelosi scored 30 pints and Ben Grochowski finished with 10 for Old Forge. Aloysius College.Against Ohio Valley, King&#8217;s mustered six hits in the game and also hurt itself by committing four errors. Lexi Wolk led the Monarchs with two hits, Rachael DeTore had a double, and Amy Kowalczyk, Amber Saylor, and Alizabeth Ellsworth, each had a single. Samantha Bloom took the pitching loss, allowing six unearned runs in three innings.Against Mount Aloysius, Nicole Turner had two hits, including a double and RBI. Kelcie Senchak also had two hits and scored three runs while Ellsworth had a RBI single and scored twice. Rachel LInso was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts.MU falls to 1-5Misericordia dropped a pair of close losses in Clermont, Florida at the Foundations Academy Tuesday.The Cougars fell 7-6 to Simmons (MA) in the first game and fell to St. Mary&#8217;s (IL) 8-7 in the afternoon game.Against St. Mary&#8217;s&#8203;, Jordan Hoffman made her second start of the season against Simmons, going 7.1 innings, allowing six hits while striking out five.Melissa Parker went 3-4 with a double and an RBI while Caitlin Kennedy went 2-4 with an RBI as well.In the second game, Bailee Schies went 6.0 innings, allowed nine hits but only four earned runs.Diana Kestenbaum hit a triple, scored twice and drove in a run while Kennedy hit her second home-run of the season, this one a shot to left field.MEN&#8217;S TENNIS Wilkes goes 2-0 at tourneyWilkes&#8217; tennis team continued its strong play on its spring break trip scoring a pair of wins Tuesday including a 7-2 victory over Bridgewater College before posting a 5-4 hard-fought win over Baldwin Wallace later in the day.Wilkes moves to 9-0 overall following the two-win day. The Colonels also handed Baldwin Wallace, who entered the match with a perfect 11-0 record, its first loss of the season.Wilkes cruised in the match against Bridgewater taking all three doubles matches before wins in four of six of the singles bouts. Max Appello, Michael Kranz, Troy Haas and Artyom Nabokin all recorded singles wins for the Colonels.Wilkes ran out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play in the match against Baldwin Wallace only to see its lead slide as Baldwin Wallace claimed four singles matches to take a 4-3 lead. Nabokin scored a win at No. 6 singles to tie the match before Appello clinched the win with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.Wilkes concludes its spring break trip Thursday with a match against Berry College at 8:30 a.m.MEN&#8217;S LACROSSEFerrum 17, Wilkes 10Wilkes was outscored 10-4 over the final two frames and fell to 17-10 at Ferrum College Tuesday afternoon in the programs first game in over 40 years.Wilkes, which began its rebirth of the men&#8217;s lacrosse program two years ago with the hiring of head coach Curtis Jaques, falls to 0-1 on the season following the loss.
