<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Jose Antonio Ramos, a longtime suspect in the 1979 disappearance of 6-year-old Etan Patz in New York City, has been scheduled for an appeal hearing this summer in connection with a prior Luzerne County conviction for violating Megan&#8217;s Law.</p><p>According to court documents filed Tuesday, the Post Conviction Relief Act hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on June 6 in the Luzerne County Courthouse. Ramos&#8217; attorney is also required to file a brief in support of the motion within 30 days.</p><p>Ramos, 72, was charged and convicted after he provided an inaccurate residential address in Bronx, N.Y., upon his release on Nov. 7, 2012, from the State Correctional Institution at Dallas.</p><p>State police at Wyoming alleged Ramos gave a relative&#8217;s address where he would be residing as a convicted sexual offender under Megan&#8217;s Law. Investigators claimed Ramos&#8217; relative had not lived in the Bronx apartment for nearly 30 years and had no intentions of allowing Ramos to reside with her.</p><p>The state Superior Court previously <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/uncategorized/17770/superior-court-upholds-lengthy-sentence-for-jose-ramos" target="_blank">upheld the conviction and lengthy prison sentence</a> in May 2015.</p><p>Ramos was long considered a suspect in the disappearance of Patz, who became the first missing child to appear on milk cartons as part of a nationwide program, according to the Times Leader&#8217;s archives.</p><style>
