The following are recent Luzerne County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. According the agency: &#8220;any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.&#8221; The information is taken from the inspection database at www.eatsafepa.com. Postal addresses used here are as listed on the state&#8217;s website, and may not correspond to the municipalities in which facilities are physically located.Leggio&#8217;s Pizza &amp; Italian Restaurant, 1092 Route 315, Wilkes-Barre, March 21. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in multiple refrigeration units. Interior of microwave, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and not clean to sight and touch. Microwave cleaned. Observed a buildup of pink mold-like residue on deflector plate in ice machine. Surface cleaned during inspection. Refrigerated ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the various refrigeration units, is not being date marked. Discussed date marking and provided handout. Buildup of dark residue, dropped bottle caps, straws and misc trash under soda racks at bar area. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Employee has registered for class and will provide copy of certificate when received.Oxford Pub, Triple K Saloon, 579 Main St., Edwardsville, March 21. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: The inside surface of the soda gun holster at the bar has a buildup of tan yeast-like residue. Holster was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection. Observed a buildup of black grime and dust on the fan guard inside the beer cooler in the kitchen. The fan guard was cleaned during inspection. The door located in the basement area of the food facility has a gap at the base and top and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals.Smokey Bones Bar &amp; Fire Grill #7566, 265 Mundy St., Wilkes Barre, March 21. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: In-use food ingredient containers, in the kitchen area, are not labeled with the common name of the food. Containers were labeled. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available in two refrigeration units in the kitchen. Observed a buildup of black mold-like residue in chutes on ice machine. Areas cleaned and sanitized. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Mechanical ware-washing equipment had a slimy buildup observed inside the exhaust vents. Observed a buildup of residues on surface above and behind nozzles on soda machine. Surfaces were cleaned. Mops are not being hung to air dry.Tomasino&#8217;s Original Italian Pizza, 54 Dallas Shopping Center, Dallas, March 21. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in all refrigeration/freezer units. Time, in lieu of temperature, being used in the food facility to control ready-to-eat potentially hazardous foods (pizza) without written procedures or documentation to verify disposition of food. A procedure was put into place and a log started during this inspection. Observed a small amount of pink slimy mold-like residue beginning to form on the edge of the deflector plate inside the ice machine. The deflector plate was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection. All inside surfaces of the microwave oven on shelf at end of cook line, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The microwave was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection. Ceiling tiles are missing in the kitchen area above storage areas, and need to be replaced. Owner stated electrical work is being conducted and tiles will be replaced when the work is complete.Pierce Street Deli, 517 Pierce St., Kingston, March 22. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Lack of a back flow prevention device on the water line, hose bib or hose that is used to hose down the floor. A back flow prevention device was installed during inspection. Employee restroom is not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins. Used dishes and utensils observed in the hand-wash sink at the service counter area, indicating uses other than hand washing. The dishes and utensils were removed from the hand-wash sink during this inspection The employee restroom does not have a self-closing door. Violations: Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration in the kitchen or bar areas. Violations: Food in the multiple refrigeration units stored open with no covering. Person in charge covered foods. Observed multiple in-use food ingredient containers not labeled with the name of contents. Containers were labeled. Food dispensing utensil in bulk ingredients containers observed stored in the containers and not with the handle above the top of the food. Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in bain marie equipment. Thermometer was provided. Food facility is reusing plastic shopping bags for food storage in the chest freezer. Observed a buildup of food residue on non-food contact surfaces on the meat slicer. Observed a buildup of dust on the fan guard in the cooler behind the sales area. Observed a buildup of slimy residue in the soda gun holster in the bar area. Observed a buildup of mold and syrup residue on surfaces around the nozzles on the soda machine. Surfaces were cleaned. Observed single-service, single-use articles stored in the basement area directly on the floor and not 6 inches above the floor. Observed a bag of onions in back area and cases of food in the walk-in freezer stored directly on the floor rather than 6 inches off the floor as required. Observed five small flies in the ware-wash area.Bear Creek Inn, Route 115 Bear Creek, March 23. Complaint inspection; in compliance.Chuck&#8217;s Main Street Diner, 164 Main St., Luzerne, March 24. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: No sign or poster posted at the hand-wash sink at the service counter/bar area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Sign posted during this inspection. There were no paper towels/dispenser at the hand-wash sink at the service counter bar, using a common towel for drying hands. Paper towels were placed at the sink during inspection. The door located next to the ice machine of the food facility has a gap at the floor/door junction, does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals.It&#8217;s a Life Save/Sunoco, 2 Manor Drive, Shavertown, March 24. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat deli meat in the lower refrigeration unit of the bain marie. Eggs were moved to the lower shelf during inspection. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Employee restroom not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins. Observed a buildup of black grime and dust on the fan guard inside of the Coca Cola cooler. Observed a buildup of dried food residue/spillage on the floor surface inside the reach-in Frigidaire freezer in the dry storage area.Dallas Tap and Grille, 28-34 Main St., Dallas, March 25. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods. The eggs were moved to bottom shelf of the refrigeration unit. Observed a buildup tan yeast-like residue on the inside of the soda gun holsters at the bar. The holsters were cleaned and sanitized. Working spray bottle of disinfectant stored in the kitchen and not marked with the common name of the chemical. The bottle was labeled during inspection. Observed a buildup of black grime and dust on the fan guards inside the reach-in Coors refrigeration unit in bar.Daylida&#8217;s Bar and Grill, 313-315 Hanover St., Warrior Run, March 25. Regular inspection; in compliance. Violations: Observed raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods in the refrigerator. Eggs were moved. Observed a buildup of grease on pipes on ventilation hoods. Personal use medicine stored in food facility refrigerator not kept in separate, labeled and covered containers. Food employees observed in prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats or beard covers. Observed bag of onions and cases of cabbage stored directly on the floor rather than 6 inches off the floor as required. Food facility has an employee who held a Certified Food Manager certificate; however, the certificate has expired and is no longer valid. Person in charge to register for upcoming course and will provide copy of certificate when received.<style>
