The Greater Nanticoke Area School District is accepting applications for its PA Pre-K Counts program for the 2016-17 school year.PA Pre-K Counts is a free, high quality preschool program for families who meet eligibility requirements. Income limits are 300% the federal poverty level (three times the Head Start level), meaning an eligible family of four may have a gross income of up to $72,900.Priority at the Nanticoke program is being given to children who will be four years old by Sept. 1 and to families who are ineligible for Head Start; however, parents of 3-year-olds are encouraged to apply and have their child on the waiting list, in case space is available.Unlike Nanticoke Head Start, transportation is not provided with this preschool program. GNA Pre-K Counts requires attendance every day of the GNA School District school calendar, with an A.M. class and P.M. class. Families who are eligible for Head Start are encouraged to apply to Head Start for their child.Items of documentation required with the application are: child&#8217;s birth certificate and immunization record, income verification (2015 tax return), driver&#8217;s license of parent/guardian who will be doing school pick-up for the child and proof of residency (utility bill).The GNA Pre-K Counts application period will be from April 5 through June 8.
