Man cited for trespassing

<p>HANOVER TWP. &#8212; Girl Scouts of all ages from across Luzerne County came to Hanover Township Saturday morning to help clean a park as a way to celebrate Earth Day.</p><p>A bowling ball, a mattress and full garbage bags were the final result of hours spent cleaning up to the Green Street Park on near the boarder of Hanover Township and Ashley.</p><p>&#8220;There was a need for it,&#8221; organizer and Girl Scout Leader Kathleen Lockman said. &#8220;It&#8217;s a beautiful park with extreme potential.&#8221;</p><p>Lockman said Wilkes-Barre, Lehman, Pittston, Hanover Township and Sugar Notch troops were represented.</p><p>&#8220;Not many people are doing it (cleaning parks),&#8221; Amanda Torres, 11, of Troop 2817, said about why she wanted to help.</p><p>Katelynn Cebulla, 9, of Troop 30300 from Wilkes-Barre, found the bowling ball in the back woods of the park. Cebulla came because there was a patch involved for all attendants, but also to have fun.</p><p>Zach Savage, of Bear Creek, and Eric Yedloski, of Slocum, both 14, were the &#8220;muscle&#8221; for the morning. They helped bring the mattress from the woods to the garbage pile.</p><p>&#8220;It was worth it,&#8221; Savage said.</p><p>The girls and their families enjoyed the park&#8217;s equipment after their hard work was over.</p><p>&#8220;(The most fun) was spinning the girls (on the spin wheel),&#8221; Savage said.</p><p>According to Lockman, the Hanover Township Department of Public Works was going to pick up the garbage from the park on Monday.</p><p>After walking up and down Green Street, Torres and Amelia Joubert, 12, also of Troop 2817, found an empty lot near the park that needed cleaning and with a troop leader took to clearing the lot instead of the park.</p><p>&#8220;All the Earth is better clean,&#8221; Torres said.</p><p>Those in attendance were able to use the Hanover Township Newtown No. 2 Fire Station for bathroom breaks. Lockman said there was &#8220;no problem&#8221; after asking Chief Joe Temerantz. She was also surprised at the community support for the day.</p><p>&#8220;Pizzabella donated pizza. Wegmans was great,&#8221; Lockman said.</p><p>Having lived with the park &#8220;in her backyard,&#8217; Lockman was happy with the outcome of the morning.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s near and dear to my heart,&#8221; she said.</p><style>
