<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8211; Federal prosecutors on Tuesday leveled additional tax fraud charges against an area dentist accused of underreporting his income.</p><p>Charles J. Musto, a periodontist and owner of a dental practice on Wyoming Avenue in Forty Fort, was <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/539254/forty-fort-dentist-facing-federal-charges-for-filing-false-tax-return" target="_blank">charged in May</a> with a single count of tax fraud. Prosecutors said Musto knowingly reported less in both net income and receipts on his 2009 income tax return. He later <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/544034/forty-fort-dentist-pleads-not-guilty-to-federal-tax-fraud" target="_blank">pleaded not guilty</a>.</p><p>Musto allegedly filed the fraudulent returns for his dental practice and for rental properties he owns, which were verified &#8220;by a written declaration that it was made under the penalties of perjury,&#8221; according to court documents.</p><p>In a superseding indictment filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, prosecutors say Musto also lied on his 2010 tax return and &#8220;did corruptly endeavor to obstruct and impede the due administration of the internal revenue laws&#8221; through deceptive means between 2008 and 2012.</p><p>He now faces two counts of filing a false tax return, as well as a count of tax evasion.</p><p>Musto was unable to be reached Tuesday.</p><style>
