PITTSBURGH (AP) — A two-day convention of activist groups gathering in Pittsburgh will begin with a march through the city's streets. Organizers of the People's Convention say they expect about 1,500 people to march starting about 2:30 p.m. Friday. The progressive groups are being hosted by the Center for Popular Democracy and are marching over concerns regarding immigration, labor, environmental and civil rights causes. Among others, they'll be targeting the offices of the Federal Reserve, Republican U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Bank of New York Mellon and even train tracks which the groups say carry crude oil, which is targeted by climate change opponents. The march begins at the city's David L. Lawrence Convention Center, where the groups will meet through Saturday.
