PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia's main transit agency says its daily number of passengers has dropped by nearly half after it sidelined 120 regional rail cars due to structural problems. Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority spokesman Andrew Busch tells Philly.com (http://bit.ly/29yWlo7 ) that the current volume of 35,000 to 40,000 riders is about the maximum capacity SEPTA can handle with the available trains. That's down from its normal weekday ridership of 65,000. Riders faced delays and packed trains as SEPTA operates on restricted schedules. But no serious problems were reported Thursday. Busch says many riders have apparently started using alternatives and there has been some increase in ridership on the Market-Frankford Line.
