MOOSIC &#8212; Whether he was standing at the plate or behind it, Gary Sanchez found a way to make a difference for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.As it turned out, he gave the RailRiders a double dose of fun.Sanchez smoked two doubles and scored the winning run in the first game, then triggered a three-run rally with an RBI single in the first inning of the nightcap as the RailRiders swept a doubleheader from Buffalo, winning 3-2 and 3-0 at PNC Field.&#8220;He&#8217;s one of the guys we need in the lineup,&#8221; RailRiders manager Al Pedrique said. &#8220;And we need his bat to get going. Tonight, he swung the bat a little better, pitch selection was good. He&#8217;s on the ball real well.&#8221;The only downer was the no-decision RailRiders starter Vicente Campos wound up with in his Triple-A debut.Not that Campos particularly deserved the win, but the righthander was in position for it when he left with a 2-1 lead after five innings of a first game that was supposed to last seven innings &#8212; the scheduled length of time for minor league doubleheader games.&#8220;I thought he threw the ball well,&#8221; Pedrique said. &#8220;Overall, I thought he did well, kept us in the game.&#8221;But RailRiders reliever Giovanny Gallegos surrendered two straight hits in the sixth inning, uncorked a wild pitch and Campos watched from the dugout as his chance for a first win with the RailRiders disappeared when Buffalo&#8217;s Andy Burns tied the game, 2-2, with a sacrifice fly.It didn&#8217;t mean Sanchez was ready to sacrifice the game.He ripped a one-out double to the base of the center field wall with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Sanchez then scooted to third base on a wild pitch, then picked himself up and scored the winning run when the throw from catcher Wilkin Castillo sailed high and into left field.&#8220;That&#8217;s one thing in the organization, we&#8217;re very aggressive about the baserunning,&#8221; Pedrique said. &#8220;We want to see the guys being aggressive. If they get thrown out, we&#8217;re not going to get upset. That&#8217;s how they&#8217;re going to learn.&#8221;Sanchez also drove a deep double to center in the first inning and scored the game&#8217;s first run on Donovan Solano&#8217;s two-out single. Playing catcher in the opener, he also made a strong throw to gun down Darrell Ceciliani trying to steal second base to help the RailRiders protect a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning of the first game.Sanchez &amp; Co. made sure things didn&#8217;t get quite so tense in the second game.Mason Williams slammed a leadoff single to start the RailRiders attack in the nightcap and later scored when Sanchez, serving as a designated hitter, scorched a single into left field. Donovan Solano added a bases-loaded, two-run single to complete the three-run rally in the first for the only runs of the second game.Luis Cessa made sure of that.The RailRiders starter finished with a complete-game, four-hit shutout to set a new team standard.That marked the 16th shutout of the season for the RailRiders, breaking the franchise record of 15 originally set by the 2003 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons.Cessa retired the first six batters he faced and set down eight in a row between the fourth and sixth innings while improving to 5-2. He finished with four strikeouts and set down 12 of the last 14 Bisons who stepped to the plate.&#8220;It&#8217;s nice to see,&#8221; Pedrique said of the new mark. &#8220;We have a lot of guys who have good arms.
