Public intoxication charge leads to discovery of illegal immigrant

Two separate reports of harassment on East Northampton Street filed

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A city man was arrested early Friday morning on DUI charges on Carey Avenue.</p><p>Police said at approximately 12:31 a.m., officers saw Leslie Benton, 54, driving with a flat tire. Upon stopping the car, officers observed Benton to be highly impaired and arrested him for suspicion of DUI, according to police.</p><p>Benton was transported to the Luzerne County DUI Center and a legal breath test was administered. He was then charged for DUI and operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, police said.</p><p>The police said officers also discovered Benton had an active warrant out of Lebanon County for a prior DUI.</p><style>
