State police arrest man allegedly caught with stolen truck in Wilkes-Barre

Man charged with starting fire at Prospect Street home where body was found

<p>NANTICOKE &#8212; Police on Friday night arrested a man near Williamsport in connection with a violent robbery in Nanticoke last week.</p><p>Police have said Joshua Ruchinski, 26, of West Nanticoke, <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/572220/police-searching-for-west-nanticoke-man-in-connection-with-violent-robbery" target="_blank">was wanted for the Aug. 5 robbery of a Shickshinny man who thought Ruchinski was going to sell him comic books</a>.</p><p>After convincing the victim to drive the two of them to Slope Street and confirming the man had brought the money, Ruchinski allegedly tried to rob the man at knifepoint, police say. Police say the victim sustained a cut to his hand as he resisted, and Ruchinski then displayed a handgun, again demanding the man&#8217;s money before running off with the victim&#8217;s cellphone and car keys.</p><p>Court records show Ruchinski is charged with three felony counts of robbery, as well as a number of misdemeanor offenses.</p><p>Ruchinski was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Donald Whittaker and remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.</p><p>A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for August 10.</p><style>
