<p>SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT &#8212; Josh Larson and Michael Siemer combined for three scoreless innings of relief to help Johnston, Iowa, beat Chula Vista, Calif., 5-1 on Friday in the Little League World Series.</p><p>California lost its first opening-round game in the LLWS since 2002.</p><p>Siemer doubled off the wall in the third inning to score JT Garcia from first to tie it at 1-1. Iowa loaded the bases in the fourth and scored on a fielder&#8217;s choice and an errant throw for a 3-1 lead.</p><p>Garcia led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run to center field and Cade Godwin scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-1.</p><p>Iowa starter Jack Emanuel left after three innings with an apparent injury to his throwing arm. He threw 43 pitches and gave up an earned run on a sacrifice fly.</p><p>Daniel Leon threw 88 pitches in 4 2/3 innings for California and struck out seven.</p><p><strong>Canada 10, Japan 4</strong></p><p>Loreto Siniscalchi struck out 13 in 5 2/3 innings and Canada upset Tokyo to snap Japan&#8217;s 23-game opening round winning streak.</p><p>It was Japan&#8217;s first loss to open a LLWS since 1965.</p><p>Canada, a club from Vancouver, British Columbia, opened the first inning with two straight singles and took a 2-0 lead after a fielder&#8217;s choice and a double steal. Siniscalchi scored on a passed ball in the third and Sean Coventry crossed home on a wild pitch to make it 4-0. Japan had five wild pitches in the first three innings.</p><p>Cristian Santarelli smashed a two-run homer over the center-field wall in the fourth for a 6-0 lead. In the fifth, Canada loaded the bases with one out. Stefano Dal Sasso had a RBI single up the middle and Nathan Clegg drove in two runs with a bloop double for a 9-1 lead.</p><p>Japan got on the board in the fourth when So Hirao scored from second after a throwing error to first. Japan tacked on two runs in the sixth.</p><p><strong>South Korea 3, Curacao 0</strong></p><p>Junho Jeong allowed just three hits and struck out 10 in four innings and South Korea beat Curacao to improve to 12-0 all-time in the LLWS.</p><p>South Korea, a team from Seoul, had the bases loaded with no outs in the first inning when Curacao starter Jurrangelo Cijntje switched from throwing left handed to using his right. He struck out the next two before hitting a batter to put South Korea in front 2-0.</p><p>The bases were loaded for South Korea again in the second but Curacao, from Willemstad, escaped with a strikeout and a catch in foul territory. Cijntje settled down and threw 90 pitches in 4 1/3 innings, while striking out six.</p><p>In the sixth, Jungtaek Ru sliced a RBI single to left field.</p><p>South Korea has won the LLWS championship in 1984, 1985 and 2014.</p><style>
