<p>Former Tunkhannock star Mike Papi is starting to find a comfort zone with Double-A Akron.</p><p>The outfielder slugged his third homer with the RubberDucks on Friday night and has hit safely in seven of his last 12 games, which includes five multi-hit games in that span.</p><p>It might only be a small sample, but Papi has still raised his batting average 17 points, which can be hard to accomplish late in the season.</p><p>During the last 12 games, the 23-year-old has hit .309 (13 for 42), which is more than 100 points higher than his batting average on the season in Double-A before his hot stretch started.</p><p>His third homer of the season was hit against Bowie and was his first longball since July 5 against Altoona.</p><p>For the season, between Double-A and Single-A Papi is batting .221 batting average with 10 homers and a .345 on base percentage. Papi has driven in 46 runs and also scored 44.</p><p><strong>Tony Hernandez</strong></p><p>A 2016 draft pick in the 15th round by the Yankees and the Hazleton Area rebounded last week from a previous rough outing for the Gulf Coast League Yankees West.</p><p>The left-hander tossed four innings in a start on Aug. 15 giving up two runs on four hits. It was an improvement for the 19-year-old after allowing five runs on eight hits lasting just 3 2/3 innings in a start on Aug. 10.</p><p>For the season, he has a 2-2 record with a 4.38 ERA. He has struck out 13 and walked eight in 24 2/3 innings pitched since being drafted.</p><p><strong>Matt Wotherspoon</strong></p><p>A Crestwood alum, Wotherspoon is enjoying a scoreless stretch in 8 1/3 innings pitching for the Trenton Thunder (Double-A Yankees).</p><p>The right-hander tossed 6 1/3 scoreless frames last week with three against New Hampshire and 3 1/3 against Akron. The 24-year-old also fanned five in the two appearances and allowed just three hits. These scoreless games came after he threw two shutout innings against Richmond on Aug. 9.</p><p>Wotherspoon has made 32 combined appearances this season with the Thunder and RailRiders and has an ERA of 2.63.</p><p>He has a 5-2 record and is averaging about a strikeout per inning with 78 in 78 2/3 innings, while holding opposing batters to a .200 batting average.</p><p><strong>Ray Black</strong></p><p>Currently on the disabled list with soreness in his elbow, the Coughlin grad who is playing for the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) has a 1-4 record and six saves in seven chances. The fireballing right-hander has fanned 53 batters in 31 1/3 innings. He&#8217;s ERA, which is currently 4.88, has been lowered by more than three runs during a recent hot stretch.</p><style>
