At this point, it&#8217;s well past being a routine.As the regular season winds down, it&#8217;s almost a surprise when the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre goes much longer than a week in between shutouts. The RailRiders did it again on Friday, extending their record to 23 in a season with a 4-0 blanking of Syracuse.And once again it was Jordan Montgomery turning in an impressive night on the mound. The lefty allowed just three hits while striking out eight over 5.2 innings, lowering his Triple-A ERA to a sparkling 0.58.Montgomery ran his August scoreless streak to 25 innings with the RailRiders.James Pazos and Nick Goody were perfect in relief, recording the final 10 outs with no issues. It was Scranton/Wilkes-Barre&#8217;s eighth straight win over the Chiefs.An early RailRiders lead stood up as Pete Kozma drove in a run with a second-inning single with Mason Williams making it 2-0 later in the frame on a sacrifice fly.All-Star Ben Gamel hit his sixth home run of the season to extend the lead to three in the in the top of the eighth. Jake Cave tacked on an extra run with a single that followed a Clint Frazier triple.The win put the RailRiders (83-49) in position to clinch a playoff spot as soon as this weekend in a two-game home set against Rochester on Friday and Saturday.
