HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Voters in Pennsylvania will get the final say this fall on a constitutional amendment that would let about 1,000 justices, judges and district judges stay on the bench for five more years, until age 75. The question that will go before voters on Nov. 8 has been the target of two unsuccessful lawsuits and was upheld by a tie vote by the state Supreme Court. Current law requires judges to step down at the end of the year when they turn 70. State lawmakers invalided a version of that ballot question just before this year's primary, when it was narrowly defeated in unofficial returns. Two justices and a lawyer unsuccessfully argued the Legislature's decision to have the question reworded was misleading, because it removed any reference to the existing age limit.
