Letter to the Editor: News media feeding the nation’s divisiveness

<p>I have lived in Luzerne County all my life. I served my country in Vietnam for two tours, and I am a real believer in America and our Constitution.</p><p>Right now I am upset with the two newspapers we have in the area, but I guess I should say almost all the media. We are at a crossroads, and I am amazed about what I see in the papers but, above all, what I don&#8217;t see! I have been looking for our papers to print what was released in the emails by WikiLeaks. These emails portray what the Democratic leader and the press are doing, and we see nothing &#8211; nothing!</p><p>Read them and you will see that Hillary Clinton wants a totally open Western Hemisphere, which means anyone from the countries in the Americas could just enter here and then, of course, get the benefits for housing, food and living expenses at our expense. Do you realize that they have made statements depicting Catholics and Evangelicals as terrible people? Do you realize that thousands of emails have disappeared? Do you realize that under Clinton, the state Department couldn&#8217;t account for billions of dollars, and we see nothing about this?</p><p>I, by no means, feel that Donald Trump is the greatest person for people to look up to, but we don&#8217;t need a person without sin.</p><p>When Abraham Lincoln was losing the Civil War because he had a general who would not do what was needed to win, making the continuation of our country questionable, Lincoln needed a leader. He did not pick a saint. He picked a cigar-smoking, heavy-drinking, somewhat slovenly general who knew that we needed to make changes and attack. Ulysses S. Grant was that man, and we ended up winning. And he chose Sherman to be his next man in charge to defeat the South. Another leader.</p><p>We need a Grant. We need a Sherman. We need a leader, not a politician! If we don&#8217;t move ahead, we are going to fall.</p><p> We desperately need a real change!</p><p><strong>Ed Kelleher</strong></p><p>Harding</p><style>
