Letter to the Editor: What would ‘Honest Abe’ think of these lying officials?

Rain expected in the Wyoming Valley for most of Sunday

<p>The eagle, as we know, is a symbol of the United States.</p><p>Which way is our nation headed? From biblical history, we know that the city of Nineveh was slated by God for destruction because of the evil ways of its people. God sent Jonah to inform the people that they should repent or be destroyed. The citizens, including the ruler, listened to Jonah, and the city was spared.</p><p>Not so with Sodom and Gomorrah! Those cities also were slated to be destroyed for their residents&#8217; immoral actions, similar to such acts as are practiced by some in our own country, hence the name &#8220;sodomy.&#8221; They, too, were sent a warning by God, but they did not comply, saying, in effect, &#8220;We kind of like our lifestyle, and it doesn&#8217;t matter, because all will be saved anyhow.&#8221; Those two cities were completely destroyed.</p><p>Five justices of the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a woman may choose whether an unborn baby girl or baby boy should live. Shameful, and for 43 years, millions of unborn children have been killed.</p><p>Only a year or so ago, five Supreme Court justices ruled that &#8211; although God tells us in Genesis that a marriage is between one man and one woman &#8211; in effect, the definition of &#8220;marriage&#8221; doesn&#8217;t apply anymore. Now two people of the same gender can &#8220;marry.&#8221;</p><p>More recently, we see that if someone wants to change the gender in which God had created him or her, that person can change gender. </p><p>The question, proud eagle, is this: Quo vadis? Which way will you fly? Will you continue on this path, which might well bring ill winds and turbulence, or will you dip your wing and turn us back to the great United States that we once were?</p><p>This nation can return to one of strong and moral leadership.
