<p>WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; Cory Dunn shook his head as he left district court on Wednesday.</p><p>Dunn, 28, of Valley Stream Park, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Ronald Swank on charges that he allegedly put a <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/626102/police-man-choked-infant-after-he-became-frustrated-with-it-crying" target="_blank">9-month-old in a choke hold after becoming frustrated that the child kept crying</a>.</p><p>Instead, he was arraigned on new charges after he allegedly slammed a child&#8217;s head against the wall several times.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>Police received information of suspected child abuse that occurred on or about Sept. 13 at a residence in Valley Stream Park. The abuse was reported by Samantha Care concerning the injury of an 18-month-old child at the time. Care claimed the child was accidentally injured while in the care of Dunn who was watching that child and two others.</p><p>Another child, however, confided with a relative that the incident was not an accident.</p><p>Officials at the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center interviewed the child with members of the Luzerne County District Attorney&#8217;s Office present. The child told investigators Dunn was watching the children while Care was at work.</p><p>During that time, the 18-month-old was trying to crawl through the small opening of a large piece of sheet rock that was used as a gate between the kitchen and laundry room. The child got stuck and started crying, which caused Dunn to get upset. Dunn is then accused of grabbing the child from the space and slamming its head against the wall twice. Investigators said the impact caused injuries to both sides of the child&#8217;s head.</p><p>The child talking to investigator said Care was aware of the incident, but was told by Care to lie about what happened &#8220;because Cory would get into trouble and not be allowed back into the house, and that Children and Youth would take the babies away.&#8221;</p><p>Dunn faces charges of aggravated assault on a victim under the age of 6, endangering the welfare of children, and simple assault. Care also faces charges of endangering the welfare of children, obstruction, corruption of minors and making false reports.</p><p>Dunn posted 10 percent of his $15,000 bail, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Swank at 9 a.m. on March 29. Dunn&#8217;s original preliminary hearing schedule for Wednesday was also rescheduled for that date.</p><p>Care is free on $15,000 unsecured bail, and she also scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Swank at 9 a.m. on March 29.</p><style>
