Marshals capture man accused of rape

<p>JEDDO &#8212; The ex-treasurer of the Jeddo Stars Athletic Association is heading to higher court on charges he stole more than $41,000 from the club.</p><p>George Richard Fedor, 76, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing before James Dixon on Wednesday.</p><p>The Jeddo Stars is nonprofit athletic association that hosts many softball games.</p><p>Court documents indicate Fedor&#8217;s single charge of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds was waived to county court.</p><p>Fedor allegedly stole a total of $41,832 starting in 2014. State police in Hazleton began probing the alleged thefts in April after an audit revealed financial discrepancies and members came forward with their concerns, an affidavit states.</p><p>Fedor, of Freeland, took money from the club&#8217;s credit line and failed to make daily deposits while serving as treasurer, according to a complaint. The club terminated him after he reportedly admitted to stealing the funds at a November 2015 meeting. He agreed to repay $200 per week, authorities say.</p><p>Fedor told investigators he gambled with the money.</p><p>Fedor is scheduled for a formal arraignment at 10 a.m. on June 1 in the Luzerne County Courthouse. He remains free on $5,000 unsecured bail.</p><style>
