Club treasurer accused of theft heading to county court

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A man is facing charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a minor over the course of several months.</p><p>Following an agreement with prosecutors, Jorge Claudio Huapaya Jr. is heading to county court to answer to those charges.</p><p>Huapaya, 37, was scheduled for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Thomas Malloy Sr. on Wednesday. Per an agreement with prosecutors, Huapaya agreed to waive one count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16 and incest of a minor to county court.</p><p>Other charges of rape by forcible compulsion, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children were withdrawn.</p><p>Huapaya is scheduled for a formal arraignment at 10 a.m. on June 1 at the Luzerne County Courthouse. He remains jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>A woman reported to police at headquarters at 6 p.m. on Jan. 29 that her child disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by a man since she was 4 years old.</p><p>During a forensic interview with the victim at the Lackawanna County Child Advocacy Center on Jan. 30, the victim alleged she was sexually assaulted by a man, identified as Huapaya.</p><p>The victim reported that Huapaya had of several forms of inappropriate contact, including sexual intercourse, with the minor. The victim also accused Huapaya of recording several of the encounters on his cellphone.</p><p>During an interview with police, Huapaya did not admit to sexually abusing the victim, but said he believed she &#8220;has been sexually active.&#8221; Huapaya said the victim had been staying out late, and he believed the victim was in a relationship. Huapaya told police he noticed blood on the victim&#8217;s underwear on one occasion, but said it was because of the victim&#8217;s menstrual cycle.</p><p>Police also searched Huapaya&#8217;s phone, but said no evidence of abuse was found.</p><p>Huapaya was given a polygraph examination at Pennsylvania State Police Troop P barracks in Wyoming on March 2. During that examination, Huapaya allegedly said the victim inappropriately touched him when she was 6 years old, and said he pushed her away.</p><p>Huapaya then allegedly told police when the victim was approximately 8 and a half years old, he began letting her inappropriately touch him, but added that he did not become aroused.</p><p>Huapaya told police when that when the victim turned 12 years old, he began inappropriately touching her. He then provided explicit details of one encounter with the juvenile, and said he had intercourse with her approximately 5 times between Nov. 19 and January.</p><style>
