Man accused of shooting victim in face with shotgun heading to county court

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania police sergeant has been convicted of perjury, assault and related accounts stemming from his 2014 arrest of a man for public drunkenness. Lancaster Sgt. Raymond M. Corll testified the man was staggering. The state attorney general's office said in a news release Friday that video footage showed the man, who acknowledged he'd had a few drinks, was walking normally and did not appear to be drunk. Corll tackled the man and hit him in the face during his arrest, an assault that two Lancaster police officers testified wasn't necessary. LNP newspapers (http://bit.ly/2nEm44x ) reports that Corll resigned from the police department on Friday, one day after his conviction.
