<p>A five-term state representative from western Pennsylvania is the third Republican to say he&#8217;ll seek the nomination next year to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey.</p><p>According to an Associated Press story, Rep. Jim Christiana said he&#8217;ll emphasize his work bringing people together, developing the state&#8217;s economy and making government more transparent.</p><p>The 33-year-old lives outside his hometown of Beaver, where he was elected to the borough council as a 21-year-old college student.</p><p>Other announced Republican candidates are Allegheny County state Rep. Rick Saccone and Berwick borough councilman Andrew Shecktor.</p><p>Casey plans to seek a third six-year term next year. He&#8217;s a Scranton native and the son of the former state governor with the same name.</p><p>Next year&#8217;s primary and general election races for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania are likely to be very costly.</p><p>Casey&#8217;s campaign raised $2.7 million in the first quarter of 2017, leaving the campaign with nearly $3.8 million cash on hand. During the first quarter of 2017, support for Casey&#8217;s reelection came from every one of Pennsylvania&#8217;s 67 counties and 93 percent of the campaign&#8217;s donations were small dollar donations of $100 or less, his campaign said.</p><p><strong>Casey joins Senate colleagues in</strong></p><p><strong>demanding answers from United</strong></p><p>U.S. Sens. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire, Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, and Chuck Schumer, D-New York, are demanding answers from United Airlines following the forcible removal of a ticketed passenger on Flight 3411 from Chicago, Illinois, to Louisville, Kentucky.</p><p>&#8220;Consumer trust and confidence are critical to ensure this industry continues to thrive, and we hope United Airlines will work diligently to immediately address this incident and make necessary improvements to ensure it does not occur again,&#8221; the senators wrote.</p><p>In the letter, the senators call on United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz to provide a more detailed account of the incident and United&#8217;s policy on boarding then removing ticketed passengers to accommodate United Airlines personnel.</p><p>In addition to Senators Casey, Schatz, Hassan, Durbin and Schumer, the letter was also signed by several other Democratic senators.</p><style>
