Caregiver accused of sexual assault wants to move case back to district court level

<p>YATESVILLE &#8212; Joseph Salvo is the newest member of the Pittston Area School Board.</p><p>Salvo, 60, attended Pittston Area School District and is a resident of Pittston Township. The school board voted 7-1 in favor of appointing him, with Pittston resident Arthur L. Bobbouine Jr. receiving the only vote cast for another candidate.</p><p>Six people submitted letters of intent: Salvo, Bobbouine, Lori D. Savoy, Steve Farruggia, Melissa A. Cencetti, and Harold R. Delia.</p><p>Salvo, Savoy and Farruggia were present at the meeting and spoke briefly to the board and audience before the vote.</p><p>After the meeting, Salvo said he decided to send a letter of intent because of his son &#8212; and his future grandchildren.</p><p>&#8220;We were looking at houses. He wanted to buy a home and we were looking at different communities,&#8221; Salvo said. &#8220;He said, &#8216;Dad, you know what, lets look for something in the Pittston area. I was born and raised here, I think it&#8217;s a fine community and I would like my children to go to Pittston Area.&#8217; That kind of clicked in my head.&#8221;</p><p>Salvo&#8217;s previous experience in a public position includes a stint as an executive panel member with the Luzerne-Schuylkill County Workforce Investment Board. He was appointed in 2004 and resigned after five years.</p><p>Salvo replaces former Pittston board member Joe Kelly, who resigned last month.</p><style>
