<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The good news for Andrew Godfrey is that job fairs always seem to work for him when he&#8217;s searching for a job.</p><p>The bad news is that Godfrey is looking again.</p><p>The better news is that Godfrey attended Tuesday&#8217;s Times Leader Career Fair at the Best Western Plus Genetti Hotel and came away with a few good leads.</p><p>Godfrey was one of hundreds of folks perusing the display tables at the career fair, inquiring about companies and job openings.</p><p>Some were even filling out applications to work at one of the 51 vendors that participated.</p><p>Maria Sharpe, 30, of Wilkes-Barre, was checking out opportunities for her husband, who currently works an overnight shift as a forklift operator.</p><p>&#8220;First, it would be nice to find something for him that pays better,&#8221; Sharpe said. &#8220;Second, it would be good to get him out of the house &#8212; I&#8217;m only kidding.&#8221;</p><p>Tammy Levandowski and Joe Folek, teachers at Meyers High, brought about 15 students with special needs to the career fair to look for possible places of employment.</p><p>&#8220;We bring them to events like this as part of our transition services,&#8221; Levandowski said. &#8220;These are all 11th- and 12th-grade students. We want to see what might be available for them after high school.&#8221;</p><p>Lorraine Paulewicz, 61, of Mountain Top, has been out of work since February. A former property management assistant, Paulewicz said she would prefer to get a job in that field. But she would be happy to find something else.</p><p>&#8220;That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m here,&#8221; she said. &#8220;To see what&#8217;s available.&#8221;</p><p>Paulewicz said her children and grandchildren live in the area, so she doesn&#8217;t want to relocate.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s good to have career fairs like this to see what jobs are out there,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Here people can visit with many different employers, fill out applications, and it&#8217;s all under one roof.&#8221;</p><p>Paulewicz said there are a lot of people like her seeking employment.</p><p>&#8220;But it&#8217;s really difficult trying to find something,&#8221; she noted.</p><p>Jaime Yocum and Jennifer Kondracki were representing Home Depot. They said the warehouse in Pittston &#8212; which employs about 400 &#8212; is looking for more help.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been passing out brochures with information about our company,&#8221; Yocum said. &#8220;And we talk about the jobs available, the shifts, the hours and, of course, the pay.&#8221;</p><p>Godfrey left his last job to return to Luzerne County Community College, where he is seeking his certification in automotive technology and welding. He is looking for a job at an automobile dealership, either in sales or in service.</p><p>&#8220;I want to work around cars,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But I&#8217;m open to almost anything. That&#8217;s why I&#8217;m here.&#8221;</p><p>Godfrey filled out applications and talked to a lot of people.</p><p>&#8220;After every career fair I&#8217;ve ever attended, I found a job within a week or two,&#8221; he said.</p><style>
