Duryea to join huge project to clean up Susquehanna River

<p>WEST HAZLETON &#8212; A man wanted for strangling a 74-year-old family member was arrested Tuesday, authorities say.</p><p>Thomas Fisher, 44, of West Hazleton, was taken into custody around 4:30 p.m. on Clay Avenue.</p><p>According to police:</p><p>Fisher was wanted for strangling a family member April 17.</p><p>He eluded police until they responded to a home on Clay Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance, where Fisher was found.</p><p>He now faces additional charges of resisting arrest.</p><p>Fisher was arraigned before District Judge James Dixon, where bail was set at $100,000 for the count of strangulation and $50,000 for resisting arrest.</p><p>He is in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of bail.</p><p>A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. June 21 in front of Dixon.</p><style>
