Man wanted for allegedly strangling relative found in West Hazleton

<p>DORRANCE TWP. &#8212; In spite of legal threats, township supervisors this week declined a proposal to purchase a property at 7856 Blue Ridge Trail for $15,000.</p><p>Supervisors, in particular Kevin Gallagher, said that septic system problems exist on the site and it is overvalued. The lot, which contains an old trailer home, is adjacent to the township&#8217;s maintenance garage and recycling center.</p><p>John Jenkins, now retired sewage enforcement officer, twice cited the owner for having a malfunctioning septic system. The property&#8217;s listed owner is Tri-State Auto of New York.</p><p>After a brief discussion in which supervisors declined any interest in purchasing the property, a spokesman for Tri-State Auto, who didn&#8217;t disclose his name, told officials you can expect a &#8220;legal battle and perhaps about five lawsuits.&#8221;</p><p>In other recent business:</p><p>&#8226; Supervisors awarded two contracts to Mountain Top Paving &amp; Seal Coating for repairs ($4,800) to the tennis courts at the recreation area off Blue Ridge Trail and for crack sealing and double sealcoat work ($2,800) at the municipal building parking lot.</p><p>&#8226; It was announced the cleanup project May 6 yielded a profit of $1,167.</p><p>&#8226; Public hearings on the proposed Preserve residential development at the Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club are scheduled to resume at 6 p.m. Monday, July 10.</p><p>&#8226; Because a company representative was not present, supervisors tabled a request by Pennsy Supply Inc. to create two pedestrian walkways on Small Mountain Road at the Pennsy quarry. Pennsy would pay for signage and road painting.</p><style>
