<p>Antonio Brown is known for using social media to make waves, and he did so again Monday, posting a tweet urging teammate Le&#8217;Veon Bell to sign his contract.</p><p>If you don&#8217;t speak emoji, the pencil-and-paper graphic is a reference to the one-year franchise player tender Bell will need to sign to get on the field this season after failing last week to reach an agreement on a long-term deal with the team. It&#8217;s not clear whether he will do so before the start of training camp later this week in Latrobe, Pa.</p><p>Brown clearly feels it&#8217;s important that Bell wrap up his off-field business on time, so much so that he&#8217;s taken the unorthodox approach of commenting on a teammate&#8217;s contract situation publicly for the second time in as many days. He also chimed in from his youth football camp Sunday, telling WPXI&#8217;s Chase Williams:</p><p>&#8220;I was talking to him last night for about two hours. And, you know, we need him. I need him. &#8230; We need every guy a part of the organization, in the helmet, to be there committed to the cause. He&#8217;s a special piece. Obviously we know what he brings to the team, his dimension, playing football. But he&#8217;s a special individual, and I pray that we have him there.&#8221;</p><p>Players report to Saint Vincent College on Thursday, so we&#8217;ll know by then whether Brown&#8217;s approach proves effective.</p><p style="text-align: right;">&#8212; Pittsburgh Post-Gazette</p><p><strong>Luck on PUP for start of camp</strong></p><p>INDIANAPOLIS (AP) &#8212; Colts quarterback Andrew Luck will be placed on the physically unable to perform list when the team opens training camp on Saturday.</p><p>Luck had surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his right shoulder and only began throwing last week. It&#8217;s still unclear when he will be cleared to practice, but general manager Chris Ballard says he is hopeful that Luck will be activated before the Sept. 10 season opener in Los Angeles against the Rams.</p><p>Ballard also says safety Clayton Geathers will go on the PUP list with a neck injury that will keep him out of at least the first six games of the regular season.</p><p><strong>Elway agrees to 5-year extension</strong></p><p>ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) &#8212; One leadership saga down, another one continues for the Denver Broncos.</p><p>John Elway agreed to a new five-year contract on Monday, ending a long-running story line that had fans wondering if their Hall of Fame QB-turned-GM might leave the franchise he&#8217;s led to three Super Bowl titles.</p><p>Elway had insisted ever since the club approached him last October about a new deal that he wasn&#8217;t going anywhere. Yet, as months passed without an agreement, the issue came to dominate discussions about the Broncos along with their quarterback puzzle .</p><p>Their on-field leader will be determined over the next few weeks as Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch resume their much-hyped QB competition. The Broncos begin their seventh training camp under Elway&#8217;s front office leadership on Thursday.</p><p>&#8220;During these last six seasons, John&#8217;s clearly established himself as one of the best general managers in all of sports. He&#8217;s demonstrated impressive football instincts, a strong business acumen and a consistent ability to build competitive teams,&#8221; team President Joe Ellis said in a statement.</p><p><strong>Vikings surround Cook with mentors</strong></p><p>MANKATO, Minn. (AP) &#8212; When the NFL draft resumed for the second round on April 28, all eyes were on Florida State running back Dalvin Cook.</p><p>A first-round talent with top-10 production, Cook dropped down the board amid character concerns from several off-the-field incidents in high school and college. That led several league observers to believe the more miles he could put between himself and his chaotic home base in South Florida, the better chance he had to realize his incredible potential.</p><p>It&#8217;s hard to get much farther away than the land of ice and snow in Minnesota, and as Cook looked around the Division II Minnesota State University dorm the Vikings call home for training camp, he said a comfort level has quickly formed.</p><p>&#8220;I am feeling everything out,&#8221; Cook said. &#8220;My teammates are making me feel real comfortable and I just think the unique thing about this situation is that we have some good vets that welcome everybody with open arms. They are doing a great job of that and they are making the rookies feel real comfortable, so I am pretty comfortable with my situation.&#8221;</p><p>Coach Mike Zimmer talks often about building a roster of focused, hard-working veterans, creating an environment that can nurture a player who may need extra guidance. The Vikings brought in veteran running back Latavius Murray to both compete with Cook for the starting job and show him the ropes. Griffen, tight end Kyle Rudolph, safety Harrison Smith and cornerback Terence Newman are among other veteran leaders in the locker room.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got some really good guys on this team,&#8221; Zimmer said. &#8220;They want to help guys get better because they know it&#8217;ll help them and help the team.&#8221;</p><style>
