Legislative briefs: Rep. Mullery launches constituent outreach initiative

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Music and nature fans will have one last chance to enjoy a performance along the Susquehanna River.</p><p>&#8220;Jazz in July Along the River&#8221; will stage its final show this Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. The concert series is organized by the city&#8217;s Riverfront Park Committee. And like previous shows, the last one is free and open to the public. In the event of rain or other inclement weather, the performance will be moved to the Downtown Arts building, 47 N. Franklin St.</p><p>John Maday, executive director of the committee, explained the goal of the series is not only to entertain.</p><p>&#8220;It also brings people down to the river,&#8221; he said.</p><p>&#8220;That whole River Common Park was designed that way, to bring people down to the river. This is another way to do it. An evening of music, but while they&#8217;re sitting there, just think of that backdrop.&#8221;</p><p>He continued: &#8220;It gets people out of their homes, out of their apartments, out of the confines of the building. You go right down to the river and you&#8217;re experiencing nature while you&#8217;re experiencing art.&#8221;</p><p>Maday explained attendees will be treated to &#8220;first class professional entertainment, the artists are first class, we have a first class artist who is our sound technician.</p><p>&#8220;Where else are you going to find something like this on a summer evening along the river?&#8221;</p><p>The committee partnered with The Performing Arts Institute of Wyoming Seminary for the series.</p><style>
