One hurt in explosion at Salem Township gas plant

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">HANOVER TWP. &#8212; By 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, three cars lined the gravel spot in front of a small farm stand on St. Mary&#8217;s Road in Hanover Township. The customers were waiting on the freshest corn around &#8212; so fresh, it hadn&#8217;t even arrived. </p><p>A few hours earlier, the Doran trio of Jim, Jim and Robert set out to picking corn in the Flats of Plymouth Township. By 10:20, the three were headed back to a tractor carrying the last picked corn. Jim and his son, Jim, do most of the picking. Robert, a former physics teacher, said time has slowed him down, so he sticks to driving the tractor.</p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">After a quick 5-mile drive, the crew dropped approximately 100 dozen ears of corn. Then, the men and the rest of the Doran clan &#8212; Jean, Rose and Theresa &#8212; began stripping some of the husks and bagging 12 ears to a bag. The roadside stand along St. Mary&#8217;s Road opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 6 &#8212; unless, of course, the corn runs out. The family sells only corn picked that day; any left unsold goes to cows. </p><p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The corn season is starting to wind down. Usually, about a week after Labor Day, the focus shifts to pumpkins. </p><style>
