Pa. legislators return Monday with budget crisis looming

<p>LUZERNE &#8212; A woman is facing charges after police say she assaulted a man and fought with and kicked an officer Friday.</p><p>Luzerne Borough Police say Carol Daubert, 50, of Wyoming, was shocked with a stun gun after she assaulted William Fox near Heffron&#8217;s Mini Mart on Union Street, then physically fought with Officer Alexandra Simonitis.</p><p>Police say they were called to Heffron&#8217;s at approximately 6:35 p.m.</p><p>When officers arrived, they were flagged down by Fox. Officer Simonitis observed blood on his ear, authorities report.</p><p>Daubert and Fox then began arguing, with Daubert disobeying all police orders, according to a report. When the suspect allegedly began to fight with Simonitis, the officer took Daubert to the ground. Police say Daubert kicked Simonitis several times.</p><p>Simonitis deployed her stun gun to subdue Daubert.</p><p>Both Daubert and Simonitis were taken to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for an evaluation, with Simonitis suffering minor injuries.</p><p>Daubert was transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for overnight arraignment. She was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.</p><style>
