WEST PITTSTON &#8212; The Lake-Lehman Black Knights are quite aware of their ongoing league unbeaten streak.They also know how it was built.By viewing every opponent as a dangerous threat, the Black Knights motivated themselves into a Wyoming Valley Conference power through all of last season and the first part of this one.They weren&#8217;t about to let it end with a tricky trap game.So senior Lynea Gregory scored two goals and assisted on another Wednesday as Lehman fended off upstart Wyoming Area 5-2 to win one battle of unbeatens and set up another.&#8220;As a senior, I&#8217;m just trying to step up,&#8221; Gregory said. &#8220;We had a goal before the season started to go undefeated. Me and the other seniors, we&#8217;re stepping up to keep the thing going.&#8221;That thing for the Black Knights has now reached 19 consecutive WVC games without a loss, as the Black Knights won the league&#8217;s Division 1 last season with a 13-0-1 record and are in a three-way tie at the top of the standings at 5-0 this year.&#8220;But we don&#8217;t talk about it,&#8221; said Lake-Lehman coach Jean Lipski, who guided the Black Knights to the District 2 Class A title and into the state semifinals a year ago. &#8220;We talk about each game. Anything can happen on any given day.&#8221;On Wednesday, the Black Knights not only made penalty corners happen, they converted on them.All five Lehman goals came as a result of corners, as the Black Knights won a showdown between two 4-0 teams at the Atlas Complex and worked into position for Thursday&#8217;s 6:15 p.m. rematch of last year&#8217;s District 2 semifinal rumble with fellow 5-0 team Wyoming Seminary at Lake-Lehman.&#8220;We all knew Wyoming Area could be a spoiler,&#8221; Lipski said. &#8220;They&#8217;re coached by a lot of young kids who were great in the league in their heyday. We knew we had to get by them first.&#8220;Now it&#8217;s on to Wyoming Seminary.&#8221;Gregory got Lehman on the board midway through the opening half and pretty much wrapped up the victory with a sizzling shot off another corner with 2:35 to play. In between, she assisted on a goal by Kate Roberts that put the Black Knights ahead to stay, 2-1, with 7:23 remaining in the first half.&#8220;Today, we played probably the best we&#8217;ve played all season,&#8221; Gregory said.Madison Klopp added goals near the end of the first half and the beginning of the second. Her scoring punch came in handy after Cassidy Orzel tied the game with Wyoming Area&#8217;s first goal and when Lauren Parente&#8217;s fake-and-shoot move pulled the Warriors within 4-2 with 18:17 on the game clock.&#8220;We excelled when we had the opportunities. We didn&#8217;t have a ton of them,&#8221; said Wyoming Area&#8217;s first-year coach Erin McGinley, who took her first league loss as a head coach. &#8220;A team that&#8217;s supposed to be one of the best only scored on corners, they didn&#8217;t score in game play. I don&#8217;t think this is going to be a setback. I think it&#8217;s a good learning loss for them.&#8221;Wyoming Seminary 7,Honesdale 2Alex Wesneski had a hat trick and Alicia Carr scored twice and added an assist as the Blue Knights powered to a 5-0 start to the season and remained in a first-place tie with Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Valley West atop the WVC Division 1.Hannah Maxwell finished with a goal and an assist and Kelsey Reznick added two assists as Sem built a seven-goal lead.Wyoming Valley West 10,Lackawanna Trail 0Cameron Forgash had a hat trick within the first 19 minutes and finished with four goals for the game as the Spartans moved to 5-0 and remained in a three-way tie for first place in the WVC Division 1.Rina Tsioles added two goals and an assist in the victory, Karaline Stelma had a goal and an assist and Madison Woods made two assists for the Spartans.Crestwood 2, Dallas 1Arden Morgans registered both assists as the Comets rallied from an early deficit to claim their first victory of the season after an 0-3 start.Emma Janosczyk and Chloe Greene both scored for Crestwood in the game&#8217;s first 10 minutes, after Grace Young&#8217;s goal put Dallas up 1:23 into the game.Hanover Area 3, GAR 2 (OT)Emily Bobos scored 4:32 into the extra period as the Hawkeyes pulled out a gritty victory.Erin Leonard scored both goals for GAR in the second half to force overtime, after Hanover Area took a 2-0 lead into halftime.Coughlin 3,Delaware Valley 0Allie Sorokas scored twice in the second half and Briannah Lee made five saves in goal as the Crusaders rebounded from their first loss of the season Monday and improved to 3-1.Ashley Chase opened the scoring for Coughlin off an assist from Jolene Ulichney.Abington Heights 2,Hazleton Area 1Catherine Ann Kupinski and Schuyler Smith scored in the first half and the Comets held off the Crusaders.Jill Buchman&#8217;s goal in the second half cut Hazleton Area&#8217;s deficit to 2-1 with 18:27 to play.Berwick 5,Meyers 0Kaitlyn Boucek scored the game&#8217;s first two goals and Jackie Nevel saved all five shots against her to left the Bulldogs to victory.Kaylee Houser finished up with a goal and an assist in the second half for Berwick.Northwest 7,Nanticoke Area 0Ang Ruckle and Reilly Bialko both scored twice and Madison Goodrich added a goal and two assists as the Rangers rolled.Northwest&#8217;s defense limited the Trojans to one shot for the game.Hazleton Area 3,Wallenpaupack 2Molly Gould scored twice and the Cougars held on in a game played Tuesday.
