PSP: Man in critical condition after late-night shooting in Exeter

<p>PLYMOUTH TWP. &#8212; The man killed by a Fish and Boat officer along the Susquehanna River on Tuesday had many previous encounters with law enforcement, including an escape from the Luzerne County prison, court records show.</p><p>Sean Bohinski, 37, of Nanticoke, was fatally shot by a waterways conservation officer after a fight broke out between the two near Canal Street Park.</p><p>Sources have confirmed the officer who shot Bohinski was Aaron Lupacchini.</p><p>Assistant District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce explained that Lupacchini was on routine patrol Tuesday when he encountered Bohinski.</p><p>From that point on, the details are still foggy. But a neighbor said Lupacchini was bleeding from the head, and she believed he was hit with rocks.</p><p>&#8220;For some reason, a fight ensued with that male. The officer was struck repeatedly, and so far the evidence tends to indicate that there may have been an attempt to drown that officer. The officer discharged his weapon. He struck the individual who is now deceased,&#8221; said Sanguedolce at a press conference. He did not use Lupacchini&#8217;s name.</p><p>Calls to the state Fish and Boat Commission for updates on Lupacchini&#8217;s condition were not immediately returned Wednesday.</p><p>Meanwhile, records show numerous charges against Bohinski, with many stemming from allegations that he attempted to evade law enforcement.</p><p>In January 2007, Bohinski was arrested in Nanticoke after he escaped from the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. Bohinski entered a guilty plea in October 2007, and was sentenced to three months to a year in prison. It was unclear why he was in prison before the escape.</p><p>Bohinski was also facing charges on three separate incidents, all occurring in 2014, records say.</p><p>He was charged with a misdemeanor count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and a summary count of driving without a license in July 2014.</p><p>In September 2014, Bohinski was charged with misdemeanor counts of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, plus recklessly endangering another person and a felony count of endangering the welfare of children.</p><p>A month later in October 2014, he was once again hit with a felony count of escape, plus misdemeanor counts of false identification to an officer and filing false reports. He also has a history of charges for driving without a valid license.</p><p>All three of the 2014 cases against Bohinski were listed as inactive on court records.</p><p><strong>&#8216;Made me laugh&#8217;</strong></p><p>On Facebook, some people who knew Bohinski posted recollections.</p><p>Erica Daniels, presumably a friend, said his life was &#8220;taken too soon.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;You always made me laugh! I had lots of good times with you from the moment I first meet (sic) you at my cousin sandys,&#8221; Daniels wrote. &#8220;You&#8217;ll be missed.&#8221;</p><p>Jack Faux, a man who identified himself as Bohinski&#8217;s brother-in-law, posted a scathing assessment of the situation, calling the version of the story put forth by investigators a lie.</p><p>&#8220;You scumbag hope something happens to you for what you did you killed a man with a family and lied about how it happened &#8230; hope you can&#8217;t sleep at night cause a decent man wouldn&#8217;t be able to after killing a man for no reason &#8230;,&#8221; Faux wrote on Facebook, apparently in reference to Lupacchini.</p><p>An autopsy on Bohinski was completed Wednesday, according to Luzerne County Assistant Coroner Dan Hughes. But Hughes said the results would not be released until an official statement is made by the District Attorney&#8217;s Office.</p><p>Sanguedolce said Wednesday that statement would likely not be made until Friday.</p><style>
