<p>RICE TWP. &#8212; Police will soon finish their investigation into what caused a driver to hit and seriously injure a family of six and a relative walking along a road in a Mountain Top development.</p><p>Rice Township Police Sgt. Harry Ehret said Thursday that within the next two weeks he plans to meet with the Luzerne County District Attorney&#8217;s Office about whether to charge driver Jigna Kyada, 51.</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m still waiting on the accident reconstruction to come back and as soon as that comes back then I&#8217;m going to discuss it with the DA&#8217;s office,&#8221; said Ehret.</p><p>Kyada was driving a Nissan sedan that struck six members of the Herbst family and the couple&#8217;s niece as they walked along Aleksander Boulevard near their home in the Polonia Estates development on the afternoon of Aug. 25, police say.</p><p>Bryan and Nina Herbst, their four children, and a niece have since been released from hospitals. Kyada was not injured. The children ranged in age from 10 months to 8. The youngest child was in a stroller when she was struck by the car that police said crossed over into the oncoming lane and ran off the roadway.</p><p>Dr. Annette Mann, an emergency room doctor who lives on the boulevard, rushed to the scene. Mann said a neighbor who is a teacher also treated the injured and was able to open the airway of the 10-month-old girl.</p><p>A number of community fundraisers were held to help pay for medical expenses for the family. A <a href="https://www.youcaring.com/ninabryanherbstfamilycarlinfamily-914112" target="_blank">YouCaring fundraiser</a> is still active and has raised approximately $58,000, according to the website.</p><style>
