WILKES-BARRE TWP. &#8212; Shortly after Saturday night&#8217;s game ended, the Holy Redeemer Royals gathered around quarterback J.D. Turosky and began chanting.&#8220;J.D.! J.D! J.D.!&#8221;Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech was probably muttering the same thing on the bus ride back to Bloomsburg.Turosky turned in an amazing second-half performance, rallying Redeemer from a 20-point halftime deficit to a 27-26 victory that gave the program its first playoff appearance in its 11 seasons.Redeemer (2-8) will play at Nanticoke (5-5) for the Eastern Conference Division 3A championship on Friday.Turosky completed the comeback with a 6-yard TD jumpball with 47 seconds left to Jared Piontkowski, a 6-foot-6 basketball player who was covered by 5-foot-6 cornerback Caleb Dawson. Nate Roppelt booted the extra point for the lead.&#8220;Jared can outjump anyone in the league, I believe,&#8221; Turosky said. &#8220;I just threw it right up there and he made a great catch.&#8221;Considering where Redeemer and Turosky were at halftime, a comeback seemed improbable. Vo-Tech (3-7) led 20-0 at halftime. Turosky&#8217;s first-half stats were bland &#8212; nine rushes for 14 yards and 2 of 5 passing for 7 more.When the game ended, Turosky had rushed 24 times for 193 yards and three touchdowns. He finished 13 of 22 passing for 169 yards and the all-important touchdown pass to Piontkowski.&#8220;Someone had to make plays,&#8221; Turosky said. &#8220;I mean, the line was blocking. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.&#8221;Defense also played a big part. Vo-Tech&#8217;s 235-pound running back Sevon King blasted through the middle for a 70-yard touchdown on the game&#8217;s first play from scrimmage. He finished with 175 yards, but it took 21 more carries to get there. The Rams managed 107 yards after halftime, after gaining 259 in the first half on the way to their 20-0 lead.&#8220;I think they believed we could come back,&#8221; Redeemer coach Dwyane Downing said. &#8220;We talked at halftime and felt we left some points off the board in the first half.
