Ray Lowery, former borough administrator, will talk about Kingston&#8217;s 1972 flood recovery. New members and guests are welcome.Lithuanian Women&#8217;s Club of Wilkes-Barre will meet at noon for lunch Jan. 30 at Boscov&#8217;s. A business meeting will follow at 1:15 p.m. 2018 dues can be paid to Jean Mihalick, financial secretary, at that time. The meeting will be held weather permitting.Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, Frances Dorrance Chapter will welcome Dan Dowalski, chief of the Five Mountain Bears Clan, to be the guest speaker at its Jan. 30 meeting, which will be held from 7 to 0 p.m. at the Duryea municipal building, 315 Main St., Duryea. Chief Kowalski will talk of how the Five Mountain Bear Clan came into existence, how they use their common heritage as a basis for promoting the perpetuation of traditions among themselves and how they use their outreach displays and events to further the understanding of their culture for non natives. His talk will give anyone interested in the history and culture of our native population a chance to ask someone on the front lines what it means to be a descendant of the area&#8217;s original inhabitants and what it means to be a Native American in the 21st century. The presentation is free and open to the public. Dupont V.F.W. Post 4909 will hold its next meeting at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the post home. Items of importance will be discussed and reports given. Commander Mark Roney will preside. The Home Association meeting will follow. Food, refreshments and camaraderie will occur after both meetings. The Home Association will hold its annual Valentine&#8217;s Day Dinner-Dance from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Feb. 10. A dinner buffet will be served from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Music will be provided by Millennium from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The bar will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Door prizes will be awarded. Deadline for reservations is Feb. 9.West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival Committee, will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Corpus Christi School Building in West Pittston. All committee members are asked to attend. Pictures will be taken, so members are asked to arrive early and wear Cherry Blossom attire.St. Mary&#8217;s Dinner Club will have one seating at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at St. Mary&#8217;s Center, 320 Miflin Ave., Scranton. The dinner costs $20, and the menu includes Caesar salad, tortellini soup, pork saltimbocca, farfalle with peas in a light cream sauce, red velvet cake, coffee, tea, water and soda. A cash bar will be available. Call 570-343-5151 before Feb. 5 to make reservations.Daddow-Isaacs Dallas American Legion Post 672 will hold their annual Pig Roast from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at the post home. The menu will feature pork, sauerkraut, potatoes, gravy, drinks and dessert. Take-out will be available. A donation of $9 for adults and $6 for children under 12 will be appreciated. Money raised will support the many activities the post contributes to.Friends of the Back Mountain Memorial Library, have set April 19 as the date for their annual Luncheon with a Special Author. The event will take place at the Appletree Terrace, Newberry Estates, Dallas. Tickets will go on sale in March at the library on Huntsville Road in Dallas.
